Jets To Theory: Bio

Good things come to those who wait and waiting is one thing Jets To Theory did plenty of and they are now reaping the rewards.

Normally, the idea of a few good friends forming a band and creating fine music is the easy part. The reality is the hard part. Plagued by a series of setbacks including a revolving door of drummers, a broken leg followed by multiple surgeries, and the passing of a band member, Jets To Theory were determined not to go the way of so many other bands before them, faced with what similar unsurpassable obstacles. But regardless of the setbacks, Jets To Theory kept plugging forward, focusing any down time on writing and time in the studio and end the end turned out a collection of catchy, quirky rock tracks that have made Jets To Theory a band worth paying attention to.

Singer/song writer Dean Lonsdale exudes an incredible amount of passion into his music. Formerly a guitarist for the nationally renowned band SOFT, Dean has spent years honing his craft as a song writer, writing songs that can tug at the heartstrings and take you to places that few have ever ventured.

After taking an almost two year hiatus from the music scene, bassist Davey Bacon [S.N.F.U and Idyll Tea] made a successful plea for Dean to get back in gear playing and writing music. Soon after, with the help of guitarist and friend Jamie Patterson [Tanyss Nixi and the Angry Mob, J.A.C.K. – United Kingdom] Jets To Theory was born.

Most bands will start of by getting together, writing some songs and going out and playing some shows. Jets To Theory started writing and decided to go straight to the studio and start work with producer Phil Anderson (Keating, Tupelo Honey, Starewell) at Powersound Studios on what would become their self-titled ‘Double EP’, mastered by legendary producer Nick Blagona (Deep Purple, Tea Party, Alexis On Fire) and Metalworks Studios. With the CD now complete, the band focused on their search for a permanent drummer and found Wade Staples, a veteran of the Edmonton music scene and a Grant MacEwan College of Music Alumni.

The CD was complete. The band was complete. Jets To Theory was complete and ready to take on the world.

Since the release of the ‘Double EP’ in March, Jets To Theory have gotten a great range of support both in the press and at radio, including being picked to be Sonic 102’s Band Of The Month in May 2006, which then led to them getting asked to play at Sonic 102’s Canada Day party with other Edmonton bands such as Drive By Punch and Murder City Sparrows. They recently were a finalist in the world wide song writing competition “We Are Listeing”, which was judged by some of the biggest names in the industry and their first single “Too Vamped Up” is still getting featured at radio stations across Canada as they prepare to launch their much anticipated second single “Just For Today” and embark on a cross Canada tour.
