Our City Screams: Volume One

Our City Screams: Volume One A collection of great music, born and raised in Edmonton.
A lot has happened to Oddball Productions and the artists they are working with in the past year. This summer alone we had bands on stage at Boonstock, SummerSlam, Sawfest, Bandranch, Campus Chaos and The Vans Warp Tour. One artist spent a week in the #1 spot on The Goat in Lloydminster, while another peaked at #6 on Much More Music’s video chart. A long with regular features at Radio stations across Canada, a couple bands crossed the border and secured spots on the U.S. Rock Charts getting airplay in over 10 major American cities, while some even saw features on radio stations in Europe.

This summer, Oddball Productions also signed a direct deal with iTunes and launched Music On Demand (www.music-on-demand.ca), an online store dedicated to helping independent artists sell their music and expose them to new audiences.

So what’s next? Oddball Productions is releasing Our City Screams: Volume One, a compilation of select artists that showcases the talent that is being developed in the city of Edmonton.

Oddball Productions sees the release of this CD as an opportunity to not only to gain additional exposure for Edmonton bands, but also as an opportunity to educate the world on what Edmonton has to offer. On top of the great music on the CD, Our City Screams; Volume One is a great example of how the Edmonton music scene is supportive of each other, working together to help spread the word about the talent in this city. The CD was mastered by Holden Daniels from My Sister Ocean. The artwork and CD design was done by Keeth Cherrington & Rob Lansink from No Heat Tomorrow. All the tracks were record in Edmonton, with some of the tracks were having been produced by other bands on the CD. ‘Believe’ by LIPHT was produced by Kevin Hoskin & Kenton Gilchrist from Portal and Parachute Penguin won a song writing contest, sponsored by Oddball Productions and Powersound Studios, that gave them the opportunity to record “Fixate” with Holden Daniels from My Sister Ocean. On top of that, both Portal and My Sister Ocean’s contribution to the compilation were new tracks, currently not available on any other CD. There are a total of three, previously unreleased tracks on the CD.

Oddball Productions is now working with the artists who appear on Our City Screams: Volume One on putting together a show featuring all the artists involved for sometime in November.
