 Zoo Lion: Bio Zoo Lion is a four-piece rock band that formed in the summer of 2006. They immediately burst their high-energy live show onto the scene, playing to crowds in and around their home base of Calgary, Alberta. In the winter and spring of 2008 they went into the studio with producers Aaron Nordean and Shawn Penner, of District Four Studio's in Vancouver, BC. Nordean and Penner chose to record the album at the legendary "Factory Studio", formerly known as "Little Mountain Sound" that saw the likes of Bon Jovi, Motley Crue, Metallica, Bryan Adams, Aerosmith and many more. With the spirit of those artists looming around them, Zoo Lion was able to record their debut album "Telling Your People". The ten song album was released in the summer 2008, it has been described as unique, powerful, precise, but still organic. On July 16th 2008, Zoo Lion won the semi-final of the Fuel 90.3 fm Big Rock Star "battle of the Bands" in Calgary. They received a $25,000.00 grant, which came at a perfect time. Giving the band a great boost to keep the ball rolling, and accelerating album sales. The radio station described the band as being charismatic, unique, and having a variety in sound that came off very comfortably on stage. In the near future Zoo Lion wishes to spread their music outward. They keep themselves busy, playing almost every weekend in and around Calgary, and are planning a Canadian tour for the spring of 2009. Keep your eyes and ears open for a Zoo Lion show near you. |
